Alcohol is seen by most as a normal part of New Zealand life, yet it causes more harm than any other drug. The way alcohol is viewed, sold, supplied and marketed in New Zealand influences how much and the way people drink alcohol. 


Metro-Auckland DHB Healthy Weight Action Plan for Children 2017-2020

This first joint child healthy weight action plan for Auckland, Counties and Waitemata DHBs is focused on the vision that “All Tamariki in the Auckland Region of New Zealand are of a healthy weight”. While it is recognised that a range of activity across a range of sectors will be needed to impact on unhealthy weight, this plan is primarily focused on describing the contribution the health sector can make to larger societal efforts.

The Auckland and Waitemata DHBs Kaumātua Action Plan documents the attempt to recognise and address the future implications of the changing older Māori population. The impact will be significant and widely felt across the whole heath sector from planning and funding to the delivery of services to older Māori in the services. Over the three years activities are being undertaken that contribute to the achievement of this plan.

The ‘Our Health in Mind’ action plan has been commissioned to drive a major shift in the traditional model of mental health care in the Waitemata district. It is bold in its aims and proposes courses of action never before seen in New Zealand. Summaries are available for both the public and health sector.

The first Pacific Health Action Plan was developed in 2013 for the Pacific populations of the Auckland and Waitemata District Health Boards (DHBs). It was developed in partnership with all of our partners; from primary care, to churches and communities.
We are now in the process of updating the plan. The community were asked for feedback to help us make sure that we identify the right priorities and activities that will make the most difference to improve the health of our Pacific community.
